You know that word association game you play? I say a word and you say the first thing that comes to mind? Our brains have pretty strong neural pathways (thankfully) so we can easily access the relevant, meaningful or necessary words.
So when I say breakfast what are the first words that come to mind? Cereal, toast, pancakes, coffee, milk, porridge, muffins, waffles?
These words reflect what the majority of us eat for breakfast. But it wasn’t what we always ate for breakfast. Before cereal manufacturers, packaged, processed and convenience foods, what did we eat?
I’ve been looking at this in my life for a while now, and even though there are times I eat breakfast-like foods, most of the times you could eat my breakfast for lunch or dinner. Anything with lots of veggies I love, leftovers are perfect, eggs are easy.
I know some people call breakfast Meal 1, to get away from the association with meridia abbott buy breakfast. I like the thinking, I don’t like the title. Meal 1 is too clinical and dry for me. What about Morning Nourishment? Ok it doesn’t have the same ring, but it reminds me of how wonderful food is and how good I feel when I’m really satisfied by what I eat in the morning. There’s nothing wrong with calling it breakfast, but what does it mean to you?
