The world is a scary place at the moment. There is so much uncertainty and the sands keep shifting under our feet. Like we’re adrift at sea, with moments of calm, and then a squall hits and we’re buffeted about. Or those big rolling waves come rising up up up, and as we rise it feels horrible. Waiting for how high the wave rolls and how we’re going to be on the other side of it.
There’s a rawness, edges are frayed and resiliency (what the heck is that now?) not so much comes and goes but slithers around our feet. It’s there, we know it, but elusive and slippery.
I notice it has the effect of heightening all intense emotions. Have you noticed that? Like your everyday grief, sadness, frustration, stress, overwhelm gets a steroid shot. Amplified emotions, let’s call it.
In amongst the rawness and rolling waves and uncertainty and amplification I’ve felt a pull towards honesty. Authenticity. Truth. Alignment with what’s right for me. Even if it means letting go and inviting more change and uncertainty.
Hey, in for a penny in for a pound. Life is going to come at us anyway so why not do the thing, end the thing, change the thing, say the thing?
How about you, have you noticed a pull towards more of what you want, less of what you don’t? Have you stepped in to change, inviting it, even while change has its way with you?
That’s surely a form of resilience, being brave and risking the unknown. Heck, maybe that’s the whole point (or one of them) of this crazy shit. Your one precious life. What do you want and how do you want to spend it? What’s important to you? Who do you want to be?
It feels like life is always inviting us to dance with these questions. But now, the invites come thick and fast and the push is greater than ever. What do you want? What’s important to you? Who do you want to be?
